The Academic and Sports Programs are optional programs for all Cub Scouts. They are not part of the normal requirements towards ranks. Their purpose is to assist the Scouts in learning a new skill, or improving one they already posses.

Belt loops can be are earned by Tiger Cubs, Wolf and Bear Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts by completing 3 requirements for each.

Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts may complete requirements in a family, den, pack, school, or community environment.

Tiger Cubs must work with their parents or adult partners. Parents and partners do not earn loops or pins.
